i’m holding a meeting tonight with a few other concerned students about what the sarah lawrence community can do to help tsunami/earthquake/radiation victims in japan. i’m honestly kind of appalled that NOTHING has been done thus far, even with it being spring vacation right now.
most likely there will be a fundraising event, but i also have some visions for a few different community projects/events to both memorialize those lost and suffering in japan, and raise awareness of the dangers of nuclear energy dependency worldwide. more to come in the following days/weeks on this. let me know if you want to get on the email list for organizing these events/projects.

Kyle Chu Wins 2010 Mr. Hyphen Contest | Hyphen magazine - Asian American arts, culture, and politics

my friends are tops. i’m so excited to see this special one THIS WEEKEND HOLY SHIT.
A Coney Island Education

a piece for sarah lawrence magazine by david hollander, a writing professor at slc, about a field trip to coney island i went on for rona holub’s a history of new york city seminar last year. the theme of all last year (orientation, programming and the current issue of the magazine) was slc <3 nyc (“you can make it here,” hahaha). i adored rona’s class; it was a further reassertion of precisely why i love history as a discipline and why i want to teach. it also reinforced my desire to live in new york a while longer after graduation, perhaps even relocate permanently.
by the way, DATZ ME on the right :]
