almost done reading this for my fiction writing workshop. i forgot how much i love YA novels, and this one is really good. i wish i’d read more books that dealt with issues of race and privilege when i was an actual YA. i’m also into the subtle devo references in this book, haha. aaaand it takes place in the pnw, what a winning combination!

i like to think a small child made this. a very astute, insightful small child. i don’t like masks, either. i don’t like the way people wear many masks through life, because they believe it will get them farther ahead or make an impression on people. i wish people could learn to be okay with just being themselves.
